Le Tour

 

 

Le Tour has to be one of the best warm up areas of the Valley. Maximum snow fall and sunshine.

Superb views down valley from this montagne à vache, used in the summer as pasture for the local cows.
Observations from this are the wide open pistes interconnected by small shots of mostly gentle 'just off piste'.
Large areas of 'real off piste' from the Tete de Balme and l'Aiguillete des Posettes.

 

Some of the blue runs could almost be classified as green and some of the red runs as almost blue. However, as is true of a lot of the skiing in Chamonix, there are moments when the blue piste, just for a short spell, veers suddenly to a darker shade of purple. Carefully used these slopes are serious stepping stones to better control and increased confidence.

 

3 mountain restaurants with a couple of others at the bottom of the lifts.

 

As for pre visit viewing, James Bond in the World is Not Enough clearly enjoyed racing around here.

 

La Vormaine at the bottom of the main lift is a superb area for initiation with a buvette and a restaurant nearby.
